75th Anniversary Concert – 16th March 2019

Here at Reading Youth Orchestra we are proud of our history and being one of the oldest youth orchestras in the country. This year we get to celebrate our 75th Anniversary with a showcase of talented young soloists.

On Saturday 16th March 2019 at 7pm, we will be at St Joseph’s College performing a beautiful programme displaying our fantastic members’ hard work:

  • Chaminade – Concertino for Flute and Orchestra, featuring soloist Michi Aneez
  • Bellini – Concerto for Oboe in Eb Major, featuring soloist Abbey Hardy
  • Dvorak – Symphony No.8 in G Major
  • Plus a special vocal performance by David Cox.

New season – 2018-19

New season, welcome back!

We look forward to Reading Youth Orchestra meeting again on Friday 28th September. Doors will be open at the Music Studio (room G01), Building L29 at Reading University’s London Road site from 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start.

How do I find the RYO rehearsal?

Finding your way to the next RYO rehearsal is fairly straightforward. From the Whitegates car park, walk towards the clock tower, turn right through the Cloisters (walkway) and L29 is the second building on your right. Directions to the university campus are available on the Reading University website

RYO is organised by the Friends of RYO committee. The committee for 2018/19 are Mel Le Breuilly, Paul Cox (Music Director), Rachel Newman (Leader), Aneez Abubacker, Luiza Maniu and Julie Newport.

Spring Concert 11th March 2018

This Mother’s Day, why not treat your Mum to a concert full of gorgeous music played by some of Reading’s talented youngsters. Reading Youth Orchestra are giving their Spring Concert on Sunday 11th March at 7pm in St Joseph’s College, Reading, playing:

  • Grieg’s Sigurd Jorsalfar Suite
  • Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony
  • Dvorak’s New World Symphony
